Xinmin Qian hails from Nantong, a coastal city in eastern China. He earned his Ph.D. from Tsinghua University, where he conducted research in Dr. Wenwen Zeng’s lab, exploring the intricate interplay between bacteria and host in driving the skin inflammation and the development of atopic dermatitis. His work also delved into neuron-immune regulation of white adipose tissue. Now at the Chiu Lab, Xinmin investigates the mechanisms underlying itch, with a particular focus on how bacteria-neuron interactions drive itch sensations and modulate immune responses. Beyond the lab, he enjoys basketball, running, cycling and watching movies.
